Novus was founded on a simple principle; fundamental research is critical to the decision making process of alternative investors. With that in mind the Novus team set out to help alternative investors make better decisions by providing them with the data and analysis they need to conduct fundamental research.
Management Team
ADAM LAVIN
|MANAGING DIRECTOR
J. Adam Lavin was a founding principal of Alternative Investment Management, and has worked within the hedge fund industry for over fifteen years. Prior to establishing Alternative Investment Management in August 2000, Mr. Lavin was with the Hennessee Group from 1999 to 2000, a hedge fund advisory firm in New York, where he focused on hedge fund manager research. His responsibilities included ongoing due diligence on over 100 existing managers as well as the identification of new hedge fund investments and the supervision of the firm's team of analysts. Mr. Lavin began his hedge fund career in 1994 at Mad River Management, L.P., a Boston based fund of funds group that manages Long Point Investors, L.P. and Proteus Partners, L.P. Mr. Lavin focused on all areas of the funds' management, including the allocation of the funds' assets to numerous hedge funds pursuing diverse strategies. Mr. Lavin holds a B.A. from Tulane University where he received honors in Economics.
BASIL QUNIBI
|MANAGING DIRECTOR
Basil is a Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Novus Partners. Prior to establishing Novus, Mr. Qunibi was with Ivy Asset Management Corp, a hedge fund investment firm based in New York, where he focused on hedge fund manager research. His responsibilities included ongoing due diligence and the identification of new hedge fund investments within Ivy's long/short equity group, which accounted for over $6 billion in capital. Prior to Ivy Asset Management, Mr. Qunibi worked at Merrill Lynch in the High Yield Tax Exempt Group, where he was the primary research analyst covering Chemicals, Energy, Metals & Mining and Tobacco and was responsible for over $4 billion in allocated capital. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Mr. Qunibi founded Callscribe, a financial services company providing earnings research to the alternative investment industry. Mr. Qunibi holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia.
RISHI KHANNA

Rishi Khanna is a Founder and Managing Director of Novus Partners. Before forming Novus Partners, Mr. Khanna was responsible for the development of Gerson Lehrman Group's technology and product platforms. Prior to Gerson Lehrman Group, Mr. Khanna worked at Neovision Hypersystems, Inc., where he focused on building out their web products for information visualization. Mr. Khanna holds a BS in Computer Science from Cornell University.
STAN ALTSHULLER

Stanley Altshuller is a Founder and Managing Director of Novus Partners. Before forming Novus Partners, Mr. Altshuller worked in Ivy Asset Management's Portfolio Management Group, where he was part of a team responsible for constructing, monitoring and managing all of Ivy's portfolios. Prior to Ivy Asset Management, Mr. Altshuller worked at Lyster Watson & Co., where he was responsible for quantitative analysis, manager screening and portfolio modeling. Mr. Altshuller holds a BS in Mathematics and a BA in Economics from Brandeis University.
